|
|
Lowel Light continued its sponsorship of the ever growing Brooklyn International Film Festival, whose 9th edition, called Enigma 9, ran in early June, 2006.
The festival was again held at the historic Brooklyn Museum, and screened over 175 entries in various film & video formats during its 10 day run, selected from over 2300 submissions from around the world. Screenings ranged from experimental shorts, to documentaries, to animations, and full length features. Lowel donated 2 versatile location lighting kits to be awarded to the winners of the Short Film & Documentary categories. The winner of the Short Film award was 50 Cents, by Mathijs Geijskes of the Netherlands, and the Documentary award winner was Radiophobia by Julio Soto of the Ukraine. Radiophobia was also the winner of the Diane Seligman Award. Sponsored by Lowel, it as a grant to the Documentary winner of the festival. The Diane Seligman Award is intended to reward, support, and encourage the next generation of inspired documentary filmmakers, in memory of Diane Seligman, a beautiful person who celebrated life in the way she lived, and for all those who knew Diane and in whom she lives.
